Have you experienced the feeling when you know what you want, you know why you want it but you do not know how?

What

I have been working in the field of e-commerce for years, I set up online stores and helped businesses with store administration and marketing, during the working process I was using some methods and aspects of user experience design, but it was not structured, it was chaotic, a collection of some methods with a mixture of my past experiences.

But it all worked for a while, but only for a while. In the modern world, where everything is changing at lightning speed it was not enough, I needed deep and structured knowledge.

Knowledge of what? there was only one answer UX and research.

Why

So why user experience design ? in my case it was a very natural choice, but even if you are a farmer and have never had contact with the customer experience before…but wait a minute, actually you had, you are producing potatoes for them, and if you are a mountaineer? first of all I am very jealous of you (really very jealous) Secondly, you buy the equipment, you are the customer, From a UX perspective, you are a user with experience and you know what is a bad experience, so with a proper knowledge and training you can design a better experience for users.

So why? cos it’s for everyone, (in addition to psychopaths) and it’s really interesting.

And finally how? I have been looking for UX courses for a long time, I tried a few of them but soon realized that the information I was collecting was not practical, I was able to get similar information independently, without any courses. Accordingly I decided to take the knowledge with myself, through articles and books, but I soon discovered one pattern the most interesting articles were mostly posted on the same site, It was interaction-design.org.

I think the reason why this learning platform is most effective is that it gives you hands-on knowledge, you can literally use it during the study and that is what I am doing now, I am now working on a startup as a user experience designer and researcher and at the same time I get new knowledge and use it instantly, directly in the work process.

Here are some tips that may help you

Start from beginning — even if you are experienced do not be lazy and start learning from the basics, believe me, you will learn a lot of new things and you will remember what you already know and strengthen your knowledge.

I suggest: Become a UX Designer from Scratch, User Experience: The Beginner’s Guide and Design Thinking: The Beginner’s Guide

Apply theoretical knowledge in practice — I think this is the most important, even if you are not an acting designer, you can still find a solution, actually I already found some resource where you can apply your knowledge in practice: uxchallenge.co, productdesigninterview.com.

Start making portfolio — after foundation courses you will definitely grasp enough knowledge to start you first project, you can just take your favorite or maybe hated app and redesign it, make it better, but I wholeheartedly recommend that you take the How to Create a UX Portfolio course at the same time, I will not start praising this course, you will understand why I recommend it.

If you already know in what direction you want to develop, the Interaction Design Foundation will suggest appropriate courses

And finally, upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate which is trusted by industry leaders
